like a little child will never enter it." - Mark 10:15

Introducing

"Kids for Christ"!

OUR MISSION

At St. Thomas Haymarket, we consider our children's ministry to be a very large part of our church. We have developed a program called Kids for Christ to be an all-encompassing weekly teaching hour that immerses children in age-appropriate biblical truths, helping to set a foundation that will last a lifetime. This church program offers a partnership with parents to bring God's influence into their child's life and mind. God's promises are taught in classes and children are challenged to keep His commandments in their daily lives. During the hour they are with us, children will hear stories and are led to be able to relate those stories to real life situations. Adults in Kids for Christ model Christian behavior and serve as examples to the children they serve.

SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION

How important is a solid spiritual foundation? What does the Bible say about laying a solid spiritual foundation in our children's hearts?

"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage— with great patience and careful instruction." 2 Timothy 4:2

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deut. 6:5-7

"I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Mark 10:15

"He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'" Matthew 18:2-6

At Kids for Christ, we realize that parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world. And Christian parents have an even harder job! Let the church help you! We want to work together to create a learning environment that will encourage good Christian values and instill the Fruits of the Spirit in each child.

SPIRITUAL FRUIT

Children are the family's spiritual fruit. They are a reflection of the spiritual foundation that is being laid in their young lives. This foundation, according to the Bible, is to come primarily from the child's parents. The church fits in by equipping parents to be able to lay that foundation effectively and truthfully.

St. Thomas Haymarket wants to put valuable tools into the hands of parents in order to allow them to nurture and guide their children in their walks with Christ. We provide a source of guidance, counseling and information that parents can use to create their own resource net.

Future plans at St. Thomas Haymarket include parent/child getaways, spiritual parenting classes, small groups relating to Christian parenting, mom's groups and prayer chains. By serving families together, we help to create a solid foundation for our children!

Contact childrens.ministry@sthumc.org  to let us know how we can serve you in your role as parent!

We must find the needs of the families in the church
and provide resources for those specific needs.
